John Deere are a terribly American company who purvey agricultural machinery to equally American farmers. Both supplier and customers are as American as apple pie and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

So what horrors do we have here?

A tractor proudly made by John Deere Werke in Mannheim

Kinja'd!!!

And an engine made by those cheese eating surrender monkeys?

Kinja'd!!!

The data plate is even written in one of those furrin languages that they talk in Yoorp.

Ha! My gf’s dad works in Saran for John Deere, actually! He doesn’t build the things, but it’s still pretty funny to see one on here.

They sold rebadged Renaults in the 90's!

It's so American that it has massive price tag just because of its name and they sale cheap versions at box stores for a ridiculous price.

Wasn’t that AMC?

It’s always funny to me when people on Craigslist say “this is a real Deere, not a Home Depot one!” and it's like an L110. Just because it came from a dealer doesn't mean it's not a Depot Deere.

It’s a Fortune 100 company. They have dozens of factories, most in the southeast and midwest, but also a handful in France, Germany, and Scandinavia which are high price / low volume stuff. They also have a few low skill / high volume ones in China & India, but I believe it’s all local sales so no need to worry just yet...

Deere is pretty proud of being a World company for well over 50 years now.

They fly a flag in over 30 countries yet still HQ in humble Moline, Illinois.

AMC never rebadged Renaults, actually, the plan was to totally discontinue the AMC name and replace it entirely with Renault by 1989.

Nine times out of ten if it looks like a regular riderI’m going to assume it is the same thing. Nice JD riders haven't existed for years outside of full blown yard tractors. And at that point why wouldn't you get a Kubota?

Yeah, basically anything that's not a $3000+ X series from Deere is junk. On the other hand, if you buy a new Deere for $1300 at Home Depot instead of spending $700 on a used LX277, which is a PHRNOMENAL lawn tractor, you deserve whatever you get.

Nope:

My Dad looked at buying one, but went for a Valmet. He wishes he still had it, the new ones aren’t as good.

Oh, Renault tractors. I had forgotten they were a thing.

The name has been phased out now or so Mr Google tells me.

John Deere is a huge multi-national player in the agri-machinery business and has manufacturing on every continent except Antarctica. JD isn’t just for Americans. It’s one of the US mid-west’s great sucess stories.
